That is your Opinion

All dog trainers, dog lovers and people in general have their own opinions on how to train a dog. Opinions are based on experience, education and sometimes ignorance. When you read an article or read a book, watch a video or work with someone who is (or is not) a professional, remember that not every dog trainer or training method is a good match for you and your dog.
There are many excellent dog trainers. There are also some terrible people who claim to be dog trainers. Educate yourself and follow your gut. Be open to learning and changing your behavior. It is that simple.
I have worked in the dog industry on and off for over 42 years. I have owned or rehabilitated over 170 dogs in my life. I have owned dogs in the country, the city and the suburbs. I am not a Dog Training who will tell you I have trained over three thousand dogs. I train people. I coach dog owners. I help the dogs by educating their owners.
My opinion is that every dog is capable of being trained. The key is that the dog owner is the one who needs education and behavior changing. Dogs are easy, people are complicated.
That is where I come in. I can coach a person who feels their dog is complicated and show them how to create a new easy relationship. However, I do not coach every dog owner or dog that I meet. Remember the story about the little boy who was walking along a Starfish covered beach? He would pick up a Starfish that he thought he could help and toss it back in the ocean to live. When his father told him he could not help all the starfish, that what he was doing did not matter. The boy picked up a Starfish, and as he tossed it back in the ocean he said, “It matters to that one”.
